Western hospitality was alive at the Convention in Calgary. Sessions were begun with the greeting yahoo! Approximately 15,000 Rotarians from all over the world attended. A number of important announcements were made including a $2million U.S. grant to build and sustain peace in Columbia. Bill Gates, via video announced a renewed partnership with the Gates Foundation on Polio. Duncan and I enjoyed a fun local club fellowship evening. Our group traveled to a YMCA camp near Red Deer at the base of the Rockies. At the closing ceremonies the new R.I. President Francesco Arezzo from Italy gave an inspirational speech focused on this year’s theme “Unite for Good.” The 2026 convention will be in Taipei, Taiwan.
